About

Thank you for visiting my A Level revision site. I set up this blog simply to support my own revision during the spring of 2016 and now you are very welcome to use my resources for free! I studied A Levels in English Literature, English Language, Sociology, Health & Social Care and BTEC Journalism, along with an EPQ across three years at a college in Sussex, England. I apologise if I am not completely up-to-date with all of the latest A Level exam criteria but I hope the content is valuable nonetheless.

So what did I do after my college studies? I was lucky enough to receive offers to study English Literature at many universities, however, a lot changed for me in my personal life during the summer of 2017. As a result I didn’t pursue the university pathway. Shocking? Not really! This felt like such a controversial moment at the time but I am now completely at peace with my decision. Not going to university did not mean I valued education or personal ambition and development any less. On the contrary, I’m very committed to life-long love affair with learning.

Instead, I threw myself into a Digital Marketing apprenticeship for a Microsoft Partner company. I quickly realised I was curious and invested in the world of marketing but the specific business I worked for was completely at odds with my personal values. I took a plunge and applied for a professional marketing job for a wonderful art retail company instead and learnt from the bottom up. During this time, I also studied for a Level 6 Digital Diploma in Professional Marketing with the Charted Institute of Marketing.

Personally, I had never considered marketing as a job when I was at school, let alone digital marketing. I think a lot more education is needed to show young people all the different pathways they can take in life. The subjects I studied at A Level set me up for a real appetite and interest in human behaviour and communication. Sociology taught me about the different outlooks, experiences and beliefs of various groups of people and instilled a firm level of tolerance in me. English taught me the power and beauty of language, the art of persuasion and fundamental rules of grammar. In marketing you’ll find knowing your target audience and how best to communicate with them, anticipate their needs and deliver excellent customer service is the secret to the success of many brands. I also love the skill set required which is the perfect marriage of an analytical mind set and creativity.

Guess what? I now have my dream job working for an in-house marketing team of an English Vineyard and Winemaker! In my personal life I love running, studying, travel, long walks along the South Downs and a Sunday pub lunch! I bought my first house with my partner and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Wherever you are in your education or career, I wish you all the best for your future. The diligence of studying will pay off and I know you will achieve what you desire in life. Work hard and be nice!

All my love,

Amz
